GRADUATION

Congradulations Willie!
Willie graduated from Eastern New Mexico State University today, he has worked very hard and long hours for this and we are all very proud of him. He graduated with a bachelor of science in phycology (I think that is how you spell it). I tried to take pictures of him during Graduation but the lighting in the Greyhound arena is terrible so they came out really dark. But here are some from before and after.

Willie before he graduates

Willie after the ceremony with his holder the actual deploma won't come for another two weeks or so. They want to make sure that you passed all of you classes so they don't send them out for a couple of weeks, but you get a nice holder.

The graduate with his family. Very proud.

Here is the cake that we had at the reception afterwards. I made the little guy at the top I used scrapbooking stickers and used two popcile sticks for the legs and card stalk for the head I think I will use him in my scrapbook.

Here is the little guy up closer.

Oscar's Birthday

We celebrated Oscar's 1st birthday on December 6Th. He had a great party we brought the other dogs in to eat cake and ice cream with Oscar ( the cake and ice cream were dog safe). Oscar got a new rope toy for his birthday. We had hot dogs for dinner and Oscar got a hot dog to himself then the good stuff. The kids wanted to eat cake but I didn't make a cake for us. I found cake and ice cream for dogs at Walmart a month or so ago.

Here is Oscar with his cake.

Here is his cake I put chocolate chips (also dog safe) on the cake and tried to make them look like a paw print.

Here is Oscar enjoying his cake and ice cream.

William's program

William has his Winter program for school last night (Thrusday) and the theme was Dr. Suess. The kids all had hats and big red bow ties on. I forgot to bring my camera so I got a picture of him when we got home. However they had the option of purchasing the program on DVD so we did that. The DVD is going to have the program and the rehearsal that they did earlier that day. William was in the front row and dressed all in red (because they told us to ware bright colors) and in the DVD he is going to be the one that is pulling up his pants the whole time. I guess it is a nervous habit because he didn't mess with his pants all evening till then. It was a good performance though very cute.

Turkeys

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Our family had a good one, we went to one of Willie's Aunt's house and so I didn't have to do to much cooking thank goodness. The kids got to play with there cousins who they hardly ever see. I was asked to bring a casserole and a dessert. Willie took his chocolate pie like he always takes to pot lucks and I decided that the kids would like cookies instead of pie. If they are anything like my kids my kids do not touch pie. So I made cut little turkey cookies for the kiddos. All it is a sugar cookie and candy corn with a little icing very simple.

Here is one of the turkey's that got eaten up.

Here he is with his family before dinner.

Tinkerbell

Tinkerbell was the last cake that I did last week and it was a big hit. I got the idea off a web site I like to use and when I did Tinkerbell I outlined her with black gel on wax paper and then flipped the paper over and I had my outline. Filling her in was not that hard. I used a star tip with butter cream icing then I just outlined her again with the black gel.

This is a close up of Tinkerbell

Here is shows how Tinkerbell pops out of the cake just to give her some demention.

And here is the top view of the cake all put together and ready to be delivered.

Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays

It seems like everyone has a Birthday in November but that is a good thing it gives me something to do. Here is the Cowboys cake that I did last Friday night and a ninja turtle one that I did on Wednesday.

The star was made out of color flow and I used whipped icing instead of buttercream. I used two new teqniques that I had never used before and they came out quiet well.

The turtles were made before hand with royal icing and then I iced the cake in whipped icing and placed the turtles on top.

Busy Weekend

This weekend was busy I had to make two birthday cakes and a baby shower cake and they all got done and looked great. I have never done three cakes in one weekend but now I know that I can do it. The baby shower cake I had done before so I knew what to do. I also had a Roller blade to do for one of William's friends birthday. They had the party at Roller world in Clovis and went over great from what I here. The third cake I did was for Willie's uncle and I don't have a picture of that one yet but I will soon and will post it. It was an ice cream cake and there was a Dallas Cowboys star on the top.

The baby shower cake I used different flowers on this one then I did on the last one. So they are both a little different.

Here is one picture of the roller blade so that you can see the laces.

This is a view from the top of the cake. The cake was a lot bigger then I thought it was going to be but at least it fit on the board.

Halloween 2008

We had great fun this Halloween the girls got to dress up for school and so they got to get dressed up twice. The girls went to school as Dorthy from Wizard of Oz and Syndl went as a chicken. The day before the big day we carved our pumpkins William drew on his and then I cut it out, and the girls drew on there's and then I cut there's out. That night we went to a local church here in town. They were doing a trunk or treat, it is where people park in the parking lot and open there trunks and you go from car to car which I like because there is no in and out of the car. The kids had great fun and we even had one of the kids friends join. The kids had a blast and we even got in early.

Here is Zeona and Syndl pulling out the guts on there pumpkin.

The cyclops is William's pumpkin and the other one is the girls.

William was a red Power Ranger he is very much into red right now.

Syndl was a shark scary huh

Zeona was Blue from blue's clues.

Homecoming Parade

This weekend was Eastern's homecoming game and there is always a parade that morning. The girls' school did a float and so the girls got to ride on the headstart float. William road on our church's float but since I couldn't be in two places at once (and the fact that his float was at the end) a friend of mine was taking her daughter on the float so William went with her. I will have pictures of his float soon.
The theme for the parade was hawiian and so all the floats had palm trees and stuff like that. One of the float had a volcano that had smoke coming out of it. But that is the bummer thing about being in a parade you miss all the other floats.
The girls had a good time, Syndl hopped right on the float Zeona wouldn't get on unless I was on it. They threw fruit snacks and cookies. They were very upset when they had nothing else to throw.

Here is Syndl right after she got on.

They were giving all the kids another lay to put on so this is Syndl collecting her second one and going back to her seat.

Here are the girls the parade is starting so they are ready to go.

This is a picture of all of us on the float, surprised that Zeona smiled for the picture.

Fun, fun,fun

I finally got some picture of the kids playing with Oscar. It seems like everytime they play I don't have my camera on me so I never get the shot. Oscar has two stuffed cats that he likes to chew on and play with, Oscar is chasing the girls as they run around in circles. Both cats are disabled one hads only three legs and no nose and no eye, the other one has no eye and nose. But he loves he cats I just don't think that he would like the real thing.

Here is Oscar trying to get the kitty from Syndl

Now he tries Zeona

Here he is with his kitty. He likes to lay on his back and chew on the kitty.

More playing

Here is a project the I just finished for a friend of mine who just had a baby. It is a picture frame for the little one. If you would like to see anymore of my project or cakes them you can go to www.cakesgalorenmore.blogspot.com.

Waterfall Cake

My mother-in-laws birthday was today and Willie's dad wanted me to make a waterfall cake. Well at first he wanted a waterfall made out of post its. I for the life of me could not think of what he was talking about. So I had decided to make a wishing well that was very cute. Then I came across this cake. It has the waterfall and flowers, the only thing that my cake doesn't have that the other one had was palm trees. I couldn't get the palm trees right. But it still looks great even without the trees. I took two pictures of it one without the simmer on the waterfall and one that gives it a more of a water look.

This is the one without the shine to it.

And this is the one that is made to look like water is running down.

New Room

Since I now have the mornings to myself I am starting to bring color into our very white house. I started with the girls room and I have the painting done. Right between the two colors there is going to be a border. I just need help putting it up and for that I need Willie so when he gets time he is going to help me do that. We will get around to it eventually.

The top of the wall is a sky blue and the bottom is a shade of purple. The border that is going around it is the same colors as the walls along with some pinks and greens, they are flowers.

Here is another picture of the wall I left around the window and the door white it looks good.

Catapillar cake

A friend of Willie and ours had a birthday this week and we had them over for dinner and I made her a cake. It came out great if I do say so myself. I have always wanted to do this cake and as I was doing it I was thinking I should have done the Very hungry catapillar and then could have made snake food like he eats in the book. I think that might be a theme that comes up for a birthday next year you never know.

He is most of the catapillar the last little bit is just a tail that is sticking up in the air.

Here is the face isn't he so cute!!!

Wild flower

This is interesting. I was doing some yard work in our back yard the other day and I thought all that grew in our back yard was weeds, to my surprise I found this flower. It was a single flower nothing else around it. I also thought that it was really interesting I had never seen a flower like this before. It has five small flowers in the middle that come out around and then what I call spider like legs around all of the flowers. If anyone knows what kind of flower it is I would love to know. I only saw it that one day or dog Oscar kind of broke it to pieces the next day. But it was great to see what kind or things God puts on our earth for us to enjoy and so many of us take them for granted. Hope you enjoy the flower as much as I did.

Here is the flower from a front view.

If you look closly you can see the five small flowers in the middle that come out and then the spider legs around them.

Fair Projeects

I entered some of my projects that I like to do when I have some spare time. All four that I entered won. I got two first place and two second place, first place you win $4 and second place you win $3 so all together I won $14 for my hard work. I can't take all the credit because Ruth helped me with my stamped 3D object. All in all I had fun doing the projects and my friends that saw them at the fair had good stuff to say.

These are book ends it is a country church, this one won 1st. This was the hardest of all the projects but I love to do plastic canvas and I make lots of things every year.

This is the 3D object that Ruth helped me with which also won 1st. It is a photo book that you can set on your desk and flip through daily. Each page (front and back) have different designs.

Here is a card that I made at a stamp camp and I loved this card I got the stamp set for making this card. This card won 2nd place.

When I went to the fair I looked for this card but couldn't find it, so I figured they just forgot to put it out. I went to pick up my stuff and to my surprise it won 2nd.

Dogs

I got some pictures of two of our dogs. Justice I guess didn't want to get his picture taken. We got Papa Bear from friends of ours who saved him and they were about to take him to a dog ranch because they couldn't afford to feed him. Willie and I decided that he would have a good home with us. He is a great dog and great with the kids. Oscar our Pug Willie got me for valentine's day (2008) and he is a very active dog and loves to play with the kids. He has a stuffed kitty that he likes to play with however I think we are going to have to invest in a new kitty because his kitty has about had it. It took awhile before Papa Bear and Oscar got along but now they can at least stand together without Papa Bear getting annoyed. Justice will still have nothing to do with Oscar ( he is almost 50 in dog years though).
